This place should not go out of busyness.  Bartender who is always here is very passionate  about his drinks.  Look I've had better Mexican food.  But for Marietta Georgia this is dynamite.  Best Mexican in the area.  Super friendly.  Family run.  Let's keep them around!!!

    Great job!!!

This is my third time going there. First two times was great Sunday (June 23rd) the owner? Manager? Not sure who he is but he yelled at me. I told the waiter instead of fries to replace with fruit and I ordered chicken chimichanga. Kids food was great. My chicken chimichanga was overpowering with too much salt or seasoning. I was kind and told the waiter. Manager  came over and said 'two of us tried the chicken and it was fine. Your opinion and it is wrong. You complain too much. This is a Mexican restaurant and we do not replace fries with fruit. I will take off the chimichanga off the bill'. He never once offered to remake it he spazzed out and other times I have been there I have seen him do this to other customers. No bueno.

And fyi every Mexican Restaurant I have been to in the area, or in Mexico do substitute fries for fruit. Not many kids like fries. 2nd Never yell the way you did... to a customer like that. Very disrespectful and in front on my kids also talking about me in Spanish is not cool since I so speak the language.

Finally every Mexican restaurant I have been to NEVER put that much season/salt on the food. That amounts can be a health hazard especially for people with high blood pressure. The cooks you had today need an education on how to cook food properly. I have read reviews of people saying similar things and instead of gritando (yelling) at the customer listen on how to be a better restaurant. I did not yell. But because of the manager/owner ( not sure his position he had cap and white shirt on)  my kids are scared to come back.

He clearly has anger issues and that is not okay in a restaurant business. I am not the first or the last to say this. Seriously chill out when a customer says something isn't good with food. The cook might have messed up and it is ok. It happens.

Note: While others have said he has issues with Black people, I think that is right, but not only that. I think he clearly has issues with anyone who is not Hispanic. As I am white, not only white I am Belgian American.

also, just a little advice, Papas Fritas, are not Mexican or Spanish. Not even French. They are Flemish; comes from "frites". A lot of Spanish had lived in Belgium, thanks to Carlos Qunito's parents. His madre was Juana la Loca and padre was  Philip I of Castile.

but seriously stop taking everything personal with people; it is bringing your business down. You want to be successful then listen to the customers. You are losing customers because of behavior. And don't speak Spanish complaining about customers in front of the customers, a lot of non Hispanics speak and know Spanish. I speak five languages, Spanish being one of them. Note this happened on Sunday, 23rd, June, 2019.

NOTE: I went to another Mexican restaurant on 24th of June and asked them if I could get less salt on my meat and they said "of course". Every restaurant should have that option. And one more thing, the salsa since opening night, again my 3rd time going, has been very salty.. it isn't my opinion, it is the opinion of others I have overheard while sitting there with family and friends.

Took too long to get our food and there were only 5  other tables that need service

Decor - strange fake brick around windows needs to be changed. Reminds me of a fake Santa chimney
Music & blinking lights at bar too distracting- felt like they were gonn buatbouy a dance floor anytime.

Too long to heck on me again and give me the check

    Not likely to return.

I had this place bookmarked to review and - truthfully - didn't think about it until I saw the news report tonight where - not only did they fail a health inspection and not post it - but allowed news cameras into the kitchen where the camera crew literally 'caught' - on film a worker using her bare hands to prepare some food.

To be clear - as long as people's hands are clean - I'm truly not that grossed out.  Because in my 'youth' - I've worked lots of menial labor jobs - so I've seen people put food safety gloves on and handle trash cans, go the bathroom, etc - and waltz right back into the kitchen and handle the food. The head space seems to be - the gloves are protecting the workers from germs.  Lol. So . . . I'll take clean skin over dirty food safety gloves any day.

Having said that - I tried this place a few weeks ago - not having googled or yelped it.  The 'customer service' was so-so, the person taking my order struggled with basic questions - but it was language barrier thing - and the gentlemen who came to help was able to eventually answer my question - but it wasn't easy - and they weren't that welcoming or friendly.

The food was so-so and I had an upset stomach later - but Mexican sometimes upsets my stomach so I can't and won't blame it on food poisoning / lack of cleanliness.  Lackluster customer service, lackluster food merits a '2 star - meh - I've experienced better' - because I truly have.

There are WAAAAAY too many Mexican restaurants in metro-Atlanta to try to coast on subpar food.  And if you're literally RIGHT across the street from another Mexican restaurant (Casanova*) and in a pretty tight radius that includes - not my favorites - but the favorites of many (Mexican Lindo's, La Parilla's, La Casita's, Casa Grande, Viva Mexico) and my favorite (El Pollo Dorado) - you REALLY have to do better.

    So . . .

Please do better!  We actually want you to succeed.

*Postscript - I did note - in reading other reviews that this restaurant is supposed to be owned by the same person / company that owns Casonova's.  I've eaten a Casanova's few times - just tacos and nachos - but guess what?  I had tacos and nachos during my El Patron visit as well. If they are owned by the same people - they really need to invest in some sort of cross-training because the service at Casanova's is 4 or 5 stars (friendly, upbeat staff who speak English better than I do - lol) and food is 3 - or even 4 stars on any given day AND last time I checked they had an "A" Health score.

Very nice look for Austell, food was great but the margarita wasn't made fresh so the drink was extremely weak. The young lady waiting on me was
So I came back think they were going to be better than last time they served don't waste your money!
